І. Common Regulations

1.1.  The Sixth National Competitive Festival of Pottery Bodypainting BodyCeramicFestUkraine (BСFU-2016) (hereinafter referred to as the Competitive Festival) is an all-Ukrainian art action, aimed at the cognition of pottery traditions through the decoration of human bodies on pottery themes, including the usage of pottery raw stuff and materials (clay, engobes).

1.2.  The Competitive Festival is carried out within the bounds of the 8th Week of the National Pottery Shifting in Opishne The 2016 Shift.

1.3.  The organizers of the Competitive Festival: the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne, the State Specialized Art Boarding School The College of the Arts in Opishne, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Ethnology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Ceramology Institute – the branch of the Ethnology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Fund of Culture, the Ukrainian Ceramic Society, the Presidential Leonid Kuchma Fund Ukraine.

1.4.  The aim of the Competitive Festival is to show variety, beauty and traditions of Ukrainian ceramics by the means of pottery bodypainting.

1.5.  The main tasks of the Competitive Festival are:

• to popularize art ceramics;

• to allow creative competitions of artists;

• to allow creative communication and the growing of the artistic craftsmanship of participants;

• to create artistic works on the body of a human being;

• to show the beauty of human body;

• to demonstrate imitative, expressive possibilities of art materials, techniques, ornamental patterns;

• to promote the creative recreation of youth.

1.6.  The aim and tasks of the Competitive Festival will be realized through the carrying out the parades of models, the publication of an art catalogue of artistic, promulgation of them on the website of the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne in the Internet.

1.8.  The date of the Competitive Festival: 25 June 2016.

Time for the creation of competitive works is equal to 5 hours.

ІІ. . THE CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

 

2.1.  Youth from 16 to 35, students and pupils of artistic educational institutions of Ukraine first of all, are invited to take part in the Competitive Festival. The total amount of participants is not limited.

2.2.  Hors concours all comers, except pre-school children, junior and middle school-age schoolchildren, could participate.

2.3.  Participants create works on the topic Pottery Universe on the Map of Human Body.

2.4.  Age of a Participant (a model) should be no less than 16 years. A model should behave freely on the stage, be able to present a created image on the stage.

2.5.  Those who wish to take part in the Competitive Festival should give a fulfilled paper or digital application on the following form to the Management of the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne (hereinafter referred to as the Management) till 01 June 2016. Singly an artist, a model or a creative pair could give applications.

2.6.  All the participants will be registered in the day of the carrying out of the Competitive Festival, before 10 a.m.

2.7. The Management contracts for mutual obligations with every Participant of the Competitive Festival.

2.8. A Participantof the Competitive Festivalshould give to the Management, together with an application, his consent for the processing of personal records, including the photos of works, their usage in printed and digital publications, in websites, and in video films of the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne and the Ceramology Institute – the branch of the Ethnology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The Managementguarantees the protection of personal information, given by a Participant from transmission of them to the third party, with the exception of any cases of their public accessibility through printed and digital publications, websites, video films etc. Without receiving of such consent any participation in the Competitive Festival is impossible!

ІІІ. Mutual Obligations

3.1.  For the fulfilling of competitive works a Participant uses his own instruments (brushes, sponges, palettes etc.), paints.

3.2.The Management provides a Participant free gratis for:

• a workplace;

• a place for the change of clothes;

• a mobile shower.

3.3.   Participants are allowed:

• to use only  certified, hypoallergenic, and not rubefacient materials;

to create several competitive works on several models;

to use in the work any techniques;

to use auxiliary items, materials (cloth, feathers, ceramics, skin etc.) for the creation of a complete image.

3.4.  No usage of toxic materials is permitted. A Participant (an artist) bears personal responsibility for any damages, caused to a Participant (a model) during the performance of a competitive task.

3.5. The Participants of the Competitive Festival are engaged:

to depict a painting based on the motifs of Ukrainian ceramic works from different regions of Ukraine and different time (different archaeological cultures) on the body;

to give the title of the work and its conception (optional);

tobe present on the competitive demonstration of the created work;

• to adhere to moral standards as well as the rules of civilized public behaviour.

3.6. Board.

The Participants nourish in Opishne cafeterias for their own account:

3.7. Life.

The Management does not provide the Participants for free accommodation. They could find suitable and comfortable temporary lodgings in the village. If they need, the Management delivers assistance in the search of quarters.

3.8. Medical Care.

3.9. Passage.

Transportation to the Competitive Festival will be conducted for account of the Participants.

3.10. Information Providing.

The Management provides the Participants free visits to the excursion objects of the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne.

3.11. The Participants could arrive to Opishne few days before the Competitive Festivalto familiarize with the conditions of creative work, to carry out trials, to prepare a draft of the future work,to recreate fascinatingly, to familiarize free with all the objects of the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne as well as participation in the events of the 8th Week of the National Pottery Shifting in Opishne The 2016 Shift:

IV. The Determination of Winners

4.1.  The competitive works will be estimated by the Jury of National Competitive Festival of Pottery Bodypainting BodyCeramicFestUkraine BСFU-2016. Winners will be determined during the competititve parade of models. The decision of the Jury is final and cannot be a subject of appeal.

4.2. The criteria of the valuation of competitive works are:

• compliance with the topic;

• the creation of an integral image;

• the refinement of chromatic solutions;

• the complexity of a drawing;

• originality;

• the percentage of the coating of the body of a model with ornamental patterns (no less than 75%);

• the level of the presentation of the image by the Participant (a model).

 4.3. The Jury gives the following awards:

The Grand Prix

The first prize

The second prize

The third prize

The encouragement prizes:

For the picturesqueness;

For the originality;

For the original exposure of the topic of pottery craft;

For the knowledge of regional traditions;

Prize of viewers’ sympathies.

All the contestants will receive participant’s certificates;
laureates of the 1st–3rd prizes and the holder of the Grand Prix will receive winners’ diplomas.

In the case, when a painting is created not by a participant himself,
means for the winning will be divided thereby:
an artist – 70%, a model – 30%.
